Role Of The Media During the Elections
The mass media are essential to the conduct of democratic elections. A free and fair election is not only about casting a vote in proper conditions, but also about having adequate and reliable information about parties, policies, candidates and the election process itself so that voters can make an informed choice.
The main role of the media during this period is to inform the voters about the competing political parties and their candidates. It should be fair, objective and equal for each political party. It is of major important to ensure that every candidate and/or political party has access to any type of media, whether it is radio, television, magazines, newspapers, etc. Not to mention take in account that any source of media should be non-biased and non-manipulative.
For the reasons listed above, it is without doubt that the media plays an important role in the elections. As a result, media is used by both, voters and political parties as a source of information, whether they want to obtain or deliver information. Since the media is the prime source voters choose for information on candidates and political parties during the elections, the main concern is the right of the voters of full and precise information.

Media has evolved, and it is still evolving with time. It has become part of our every day lives. People have access through it from their cars, their mobile phones, almost everywhere and whenever. The hard part here, is to know what types of sources and what information is legitimate. Voters need to think out of the box and realize that not everything they read, see, or hear is true. In order for that to happen, we need to learn how and what to question when information is delivered to us, especially when making impact decisions such as voting for the next president of our country.
